can’t decide

Once again, I’m thinking about deleting my blog (this website). I have no desire to post updates anymore. Of course, the logical thing to do is just keep it up, and let it go “dormant” in case I change my mind, but I don’t want to do that either. For me, that would be a form of pack-rat-ishness … which would weigh heavily on my mind (I’m a weirdo, no doubt).

The only thing holding me back is the fact that I can’t (really) download the contents of my blog for offline viewing. I can, but it simply looks like a clump of code to be sorted thru in order to find what you want to see. The formating and search ability would be lost.

I guess I should figure out how to install wordpress to my hard drive, complete with database and all; then I could just run wordpress offline when I feel like being nostalgic.

New Year, New Things

For starters, I finally did what I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I shaved my head. I’m still in the process of getting used myself as a bald person (along with everyone else who knows me), but I’m pretty sure I won’t be growing my hair back. All of the insecurities that used to haunt my mind regarding a bad balding pattern have vanished … that freedom alone makes it all worth it.

As quickly as I decided to be a comic book nerd, I’ve decided to now jump back off the bus. I like the X-Men comics a lot, but it’s become more of a hassle and money suck than an enjoyable hobby. So I’m all done with that.

I’ve become very interested in space travel and exploration. The next book I buy will be about the Apollo Missions.

New Project for 2012

OK, so 2011 is just about over, which means my “even days” project is going to end as well. In 2010 I didn’t have any project running at all and I took a lot less photos. So … I need something to do next year.

…. drum roll please …

2012 will be my first ever “52 weeks” project. Lot’s of people do it on flickr, so if it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me. Self imposed rules for the project are as follows:

1 – One photo per week
2 – No photo over 21 days old will be posted
3 – Any type of photo counts, but setups are preferable

So, in summary, nothing’s going to change except the number of photos I post … which will be less by like 70%

Father – Daughter Morning

Danny’s been sick with a fever for a few days, I decided to take Abi out to do something while Pro tried to get Danny to get some sleep. We went to Five Rivers Wildlife Sanctuary. I’ve been there a bunch of times and I remember people feeding huge turtles off the bridge over the lake, so I thought that would be a good idea. Sadly, we didn’t see any turtles, but it was fun to go for a nature walk with Abi. She didn’t mind the lack of turtles at all, she just like being outside and exploring someplace “new”. We had a great time. I’m sad we didn’t get to do more of this during this past summer.

Selfish Gifts

So last year, I talked Pro into getting an iPad. I paid for some of it as a gift, and she paid the rest. I don’t use it much because the whole thing is set up for her, so even if she’s not here (like right now), it’s still a bit of a hassle to use. I told myself when I first starting playing with the iPad that I’d be getting the iPad 3 when it comes out, but now I’m not sure if I want to or not. One of the things holding me back was/is the iPad’s inability to generate content.

Skip ahead to this moment. I just bought Pro a wireless keyboard which works with the iPad. So, of course, for me a lightbulb has just clicked on. I can now blog from the iPad. So I’m giving it a try. The WordPress App isn’t so great, but I do like sitting here on the couch typing away on a tiny keyboard with no wires attached and no screen stuck in front of me (the iPad’s next to me on the couch).

Still not a perfect experience, but I like it.

Apple Pie Day

We went to Nana & Grandpa’s house to make apple pies today. Abi loves that she can be helpful … she had a great time.
