WordPress on a jump drive

Published by milo under Hobbies,technical

If you aren’t a little bit nerdy, please stop reading this and go on about your day :)

So I just recently loaded wordpress onto a jump drive which I carry around everywhere with me (on my key chain when not plugged in). I gotta say, I’m loving it. I can “jot” things down as I think of them in a quick, organized manner. Short term goals, things my daughter says and does as she grows up, things I wanna buy, foods I wanna cook, important dates, photo ideas, etc. WordPress has categories and tagging, so sorting thru the posts are quick and easy … and I always have everything with me. Try it, it’s cool … if you’re a nerd, like me.

34-152-093-07Most every evening, Jessamyn and I can be seen surfing the web on our laptops in front of the TV … at least for a little while. Problem is, the laptop that I use is terrible … dark screen, practically useless keyboard, and a slow burning 256mb of RAM. So for my birthday present this year, pro helped me buy the sweet beauty you see above. It’s a netbook, there’s no CD drive … and it’s only got a 10″ screen, but I think it looks cool, and it’s portable … it’ll be useful on vacation. I can’t wait to get it.

New Operating System

Published by milo under technical

I’ve been wanting to try out Linux for a long time now. I’m not sure why, just something new to learn I guess. Anyway, we have a laptop at home which is very old and runs very slowly, so I erased windows off the machine and replaced it with xubuntu. So far so good, I’m impressed. It looks good, operates quickly and does everything I need it to do. I can connect to the web wirelessly, use firefox, open zip files, excel files, word files, image files and videos. And lastly, the computer’s 10 gig hard drive now has 7GB free rather than 0GB before.
