potential new photo a day project
I’m kicking around the idea of another photo a day project for 2009. It’s a difficult project, but the collection of photos at the end is worth it … I think. I’m thinking I may shorten it for myself, however, by half. So kind of like a photo every other day. I’d give myself 2 days to take a photo rather than force myself to take one every day.
In 2005, I took a picture a day for almost all 365 days … close enough to call the project a success anyway. Doing it again would be a good way to track Abi’s growth. Also, it helps me remember all the fun stuff I did when I reflect back.
My problem at the moment is deciding how to display the images. My options are as follows:
- Use this website – problem with that is the project gets mixed in with other posts and may be forgotten.
- Create another website – problem is no one would go to it.
- Flickr – I like Flickr and the images would get more exposure, but I’m not sure I want to start putting images somewhere else on the web besides where I’m already putting them.
- Facebook – This would give my friends the most exposure, but facebook destroys image quality and so isn’t really an option (not to mention the 600 pixel size limit)
I’m not sure what to do. None of the options are very good.

Vote 1 – do it
Vote 2 – flickr
I say either make another website, or use flickr and put a link to it from your website… I thnk alot of people will still go look at it
i go on flickr everyday! do it:) i loved your photo of the day project:)

Hey Kris,
I love the idea of taking a photo every other day. I already take lots of pictures but this will just inspire me to be more and more creative. I’m very excited. But like you mention I’m not sure exactly how to display them. If you have come up with any other ideas that would be great. Can’t wait to see what each day brings… Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Rachel, that’s awesome! Jessamyn and I will be using http://www.flickr.com to display our photos. It’s easy, it’s free, and there are widgets that will allow you to show your flickr images on facebook (not sure how that works exactly, yet).
Once January 1st hits, I’ll contact everyone who has shown interest and collect a complete list of everyone playing along. I’ll create a master link list so everyone can get to everyone. the list will be on this page:
