Geocaching

Published by milo under Uncategorized

For me, hobbies more or less come and go as time moves on. For the past 2 summers, pro and I really enjoyed canoing, but having a baby in June is going to kill that for a while … so what now? Well, the other day I was out in the woods taking pictures for a photo challenge and I got lost. Not “I’m gonna die” lost, but rather “crap, I have to backtrack” lost. In the process I had to walk thru a stream twice (it was 35 degrees outside). So, I started looking into handheld GPS devices. The unit would allow me to always know exactly where my car is (or any other spot I mark).

During my reading about GPS devices, I kept seeing the word “geocaching“. Finally, I decided to look it up as I didn’t know what it was. Well, apparently, people hide crap in waterproof containers all over the world. Then, they upload the latitude and longitude coordinates to the “cache” to a website - and other people go find them, take what’s inside, and leaves something else for the next person to find. Very cool indeed. It’s like a scavenger hunt.

Needless to say, my Garmin eTrex Venture HC is being delivered on monday. My new hobby begins at that moment :)

Movie Review - Fool’s Gold

Fool’s Gold - 3.5 out of 5 stars

A fun movie. Not very deep, but funny and entertaining. A few annoying characters, but not annoying enough to ruin the movie. I should probably give it 4 stars, but being a shallow, mindless romantic comedy … I find myself holding back a bit. Still … go check it out.

Food Review - Olive Garden

Published by milo under Uncategorized

Pro and I went to the Olive Garden on Wolf Road for her birthday. We’ve been there several times before and have enjoyed it every time. Well … not so much this time. We were first seated next to the kitchen door, I asked to be moved, no big deal … except apparently they moved us into someone else’s section, because the server we started with was not the server we ended with (and neither were polite).

Anyway, the salad was bland, but the entrees were good as always. At the end of a lengthy wait to pay, the server lost our check, came over with another person to explain why our meal had to be rung thru again (neither offered an apology).

At 13.9% (I did the math later), it was the lowest tip I can ever remember giving.

2 out of 5 stars
