4 years today

Published by milo under family

Jessamyn and I have been married for four years today. God has blessed us, but we know we’re only getting started. Here’s a shot from our honeymoon in Hawaii … famous restaurant I think … can’t remember. “Cheeseburger in Paradise” I think (or maybe Bubba Gumps).

Sparco Saver #2 Medium Soft

Published by milo under Hobbies

I wasn’t sure what to title this post, so I copied the info off the pencil resting on the function keys on my keyboard.

OK, so built an HO Scale Inglenook Sidings Shunting Puzzle … then decided it was stupid within about 10 minutes. It doesn’t work nearly as smoothly as I wanted it to, and I have no interest in spending more money to make it better. Scratch one more dumb idea off my mental list :)

Now what? I’m bored.

waiting for the next bus

Published by milo under Hobbies

I like discovering new things, trying out stuff I never had before … and usually I grow bored and move on pretty quickly. I’m ok with that … which is good cuz I’ve been this way since forever. So anyway, I’ve decided to pass on the comic book bus. Total financial investment = $2.99 … for those counting at home … that’s a win :)

What’s next you ask? Good question. I’m thinking about building a small portable inglenook siding shunting puzzle. Could be fun to have around when we have people over. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

Comic Books

Published by milo under general

I don’t know if it was the last episode of Big Bang Theory, past episodes of Heroes, or what … but lately I’ve been researching comic books. I never got into comic books as a kid … and even now I have no interest whatsoever in collecting them, but maybe I’d like to read them from time to time. I hate most magazines I get, so perhaps this could be a new thing for me.

Having seen Serenity and the Firefly TV Series, the comic above (click it to go to the website) seemed like a good place to start, so I head over to Earthworld on Central Ave in Albany and bought it for $3.00. It’s good, true to the movie, but I had no idea they were so short. You can read the entire thing in about 5 minutes. Having never read a comic before, I wasn’t prepared for that.

Anyway, if there are any comic book fans out there reading this – please recommend a good comic that sarcasm heavy … I love sarcasm :)

Back to Weight Control

Published by milo under diet, sports

Six months ago, I posted this … click me … which basically stated that I had reached my goal weight of 140 pounds. After that post I actually lost 3 more pounds, putting me at 137. Over the past 6 months I’ve more or less stayed right around 140 – 142 … not too bad for winter time. Lately, however, I’ve balooned back up to 147 pounds. This situation is unacceptable. Time to Re-implement my rules:

  1. No eating after 7pm
  2. No snacking … 3 meals per day

For the time being, I won’t try to limit how much I eat at my scheduled feeding times. If I start training for a 5k, the 2 rules above should be enough to start losing weight. I’ve chosen the 1st Annual 5k run/walk for C.O.P.S. to be my first race of the year. It’s May 9th down at the Corning Preserve – about 3 weeks away. My goal is to weigh 137 pounds on June 10th … one day before going on vacation to Florida.
